The Exhibition:

Press Release: The art association "Global Forest" invites visitors to an exhibition of works by Joanna Schulte from Hanover this Friday and Saturday, September 28, at Friedrichstrasse 5a. Under the motto "Input Output, Black," sound and visual objects, among other things, await visitors.

The exhibition is a kind of premiere, as the former party room/cellar is being used for the first time, as the association's chairman, Olsen Wolf, explains. Since Schulte explores the theme of "black," the exhibition was logically placed in a dark space. Working with the exhibition location is always important to her, says Schulte. She feels that the energies flowing from her into the Black Forest are like a bright halo of energy around a black hole, which was recently photographed for the first time. It's about creating an overall atmosphere around blackness, rotation, borders, and cyclicality.

The starting point was two black disco balls from a previous exhibition. Fittingly, Schulte was a frequent visitor to the Phonograph Museum. She addressed the history of technology with a video showing the journey through a record groove. From this perspective, it's almost like walking along the track. Several sounds she used for the exhibition also come from the Phonograph Museum, as well as from the large clock with the swinging pendulum in the town hall. Also on display is a selection of "Letters to Oliver," of which Schulte already owns several. These are real letters, but sent to a fictional person. Some of the stamps refer to energy systems, outer space, clocks, or black holes.
